COMPREHENSIVE COURSE ON INVESTOR-STATE DISPUTES

Objective:

It is no news that in today’s world, Arbitration is not merely alternative but a paramount dispute resolution mechanism. While commercial arbitration is being taught and practiced more commonly in India, very few avenues could be found for learning and pursuing investment treaty disputes as a career option.

Keeping this in mind, we have designed a comprehensive course aimed at equipping professionals with the necessary practical knowhow and theoretical knowledge of Investor-state Arbitration, so the students could be made familiar with this promising and intriguing field and consider it as a viable career option. The entire experience is offered exclusively by the IAMC, Hyderabad.

Purpose:

1.Knowledge Enhancement: The course seeks to enhance participant’s understanding of investor- state arbitration in depth, through a wide range of topics, including the history and evolution of investment arbitration, fundamental principles involved, forums involved and their roles, procedures of enforcement of awards, appeal system including case studies, comparative analysis, and global perspective.

2.Expert Insights: Investor-state disputes being a niche field, we aim to provide participants with access to distinguished experts who has worked extensively in this field.  With the aim of inviting esteemed speakers, we intend to offer participants the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals with vast experience in in this niche field.

3.Continuing Education and Certification: Upon successful completion of the course followed by an assessment test, participants will receive a certificate recognizing that they have attained the necessary knowledge and skills in investment treaty arbitration. The certificate will serve as a testament to their professional development and dedication to excellence in the field.

Assessment:

At the end of the course, there will be a one-hour online assessment comprising of Twenty application based MCQs. For qualifying the assessment, the applicant must answer correctly more than Ten questions to receive the qualification certificate.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants should be able to understand the intricacies of Investor -State Arbitration from the standpoint of a student or a young professional.

  • Understand the principles and fundamentals of investment arbitration.
  • Identify the career prospects in investment arbitration.
  • Ability to navigate the BITs of different jurisdictions
  • Understand comparative analysis of investment arbitration across the globe.
  • In depth case studies

Note : Along with the assessment, Certification requires mandatory attendance of 80%, i.e., atleast 4 out of 5 lectures.
