Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) And International Arbitration And Mediation Centre (IAMC) Forge Strategic Partnership To Promote Regional ADR
The Singapore Convention Week 2026 witnessed the start of a new relationship between the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) and the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre, Hyderabad (IAMC).
The CEO & Registrar of IAMC, Mr AJ Jawad, and Datuk Danesh Chandran, Chief Executive Officer of AIAC, formally entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), creating a formal framework for cooperation in the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) space.
The signing ceremony was presided over by Dato’ Mary Lim, President of the AIAC Court of Arbitration, along with Aparna Panicker and Nikshita Niranjan from IAMC, Hyderabad.
This strategic alliance connects two leading non-profit dispute resolution institutions with a common commitment to innovation, capacity building and excellence in arbitration and mediation. The MoU provides a binding commitment to share knowledge, experience and resources for the greatest advantage of the worldwide legal and ADR community.
Under this new framework, the AIAC and IAMC will concentrate on a set of key cooperation activities:
• Joint Academic and Practical Training: The institutions will organise cross-border conferences, training programmes and seminars, including a special effort to have a joint conference every year on critical arbitration, mediation and ADR themes.
• Use of Facilities and Resources: The agreement permits the use of hearing facilities in an effort to help with the smooth resolution of cross-border disputes. IAMC-administered affairs in Malaysia may avail themselves of AIAC facilities at preferential prices, and AIAC administered matters in India may similarly avail themselves of IAMC’s top-notch Hyderabad based facilities.
• Empanelment Recommendations: Both centres will proactively advocate cross-empanelment of experienced arbitrators, mediators and ADR specialists, thereby increasing the pool of neutral experts available to parties to disputes across jurisdictions.
• Knowledge Exchange: The relationship enables constant exchange of non-confidential information on the current trends in ADR, jurisprudential developments and legislative updates in Malaysia and India.
The MoU offers opportunities for future collaboration with global partners to encourage best practices and establish highly effective and cost-efficient dispute management protocols by connecting the ADR ecosystems of Malaysia and India.
