Mr. A J Jawad,
Registrar

Mr. A J Jawad is a seasoned advocate with 35 years of experience in the legal field and a distinguished Senior Mediator and Trainer with over 18 years of expertise in civil, commercial, international, and matrimonial mediations.
As a Senior Mediator-Trainer with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC) of the Supreme Court of India and the Tamil Nadu Mediation and Conciliation Centre (TNMCC) at the High Court of Madras, Mr. Jawad has developed and delivered Train-the-Trainer programs, ensuring high-quality mediation training within these organisations. Mr. Jawad’s work includes conducting workshops on mediation in the National Judicial Academy at Bhopal, India and the Tamil Nadu Judicial Academy, including mediation training programs for newly recruited civil judges at Chennai and Chandigarh. He has also conducted advanced mediation training programs across sectors like civil, commercial, and matrimonial disputes.
Mr. Jawad is an empanelled mediator with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce, where he mediates business disputes and promotes amicable resolutions. He also has extensive experience in cross-border mediations, resolving complex international disputes.
Alongside his mediation work, Mr. Jawad is also empanelled as an arbitrator with the Madras High Court, where he adjudicates disputes and provides alternative dispute resolution services. In addition to his work with institutions in India, Mr. Jawad has contributed to ADR education globally. He served as global faculty for ADR ODR International, UK, and has led mediation training at universities in both India and the UK.

Mr. Tariq Khan,
Registrar (Completion date : 30.12.2024)

With over a decade of practice before various High Courts and the Supreme Court of India, Mr. Tariq Khan is a seasoned advocate specializing in commercial litigation and arbitration. Appointed as the Partner of the prominent law firm Advani and Co., New Delhi in 2021.

Throughout his career, Mr. Khan has been involved in more than 50 complex and high-stakes arbitrations, both domestic and international. His expertise spans across various industries, including construction, infrastructure, energy, joint ventures, and intellectual property, working with clients from around the world.
Mr. Khan also serves as an arbitrator and mediator, appointed by various High Courts and as a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb, UK). He is a Trained Mediator certified by the Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC), ADR ODR UK (recognized by the UK Civil Mediation Council (CMC)), and certified by the Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI) and International Mediation Institute (IMI). Additionally, he has completed Mediation Advocacy Training from the Foundation for Sustainable Rule of Law (FSRL), USA.

As an Adjunct Professor at NALSAR University of Law, Mr. Khan has authored several books, including commentary on Indian Arbitration Law and the Law Relating to Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. With more than 60 publications on arbitration, he is recognized as an arbitration expert by SCCOnline.

Mr. Khan has conducted several training programs for arbitrators, mediators, IAS officers, corporate counsel, and company secretaries. He is a sought-after resource person for various national and international institutions, including the National Judicial Academy. Currently, he serves as an advisor to several ADR societies, including the Advisory Board of Thought Leaders 4 Dispute, UK, and Indian Women in International Arbitration. He is also a member of the Scrutiny Committee of the Confederation of Alumni for National Law Universities (CAN) Foundation.

Recognized for his contributions, Mr. Khan was listed in the Forbes Legal Powerlist, 2020-2021, as one of the top individual lawyers and the youngest lawyer listed in BW (Business World) Legal 40 under 40, 2020. He has been featured in Fortune 500 (India) Magazine for authoring the best-selling book ‘On the Rise.’
